Election Day!

Robbie and I weren't sure how long the wait would be at our local polling place, and he had an early meeting up in Decatur, AL, so we decided that we'd go separately. 

Given reports of anticipated long waits etc I was a little bit worried how it'd be to go solo with little R, so I packed him an ample selection of snacks and diversions and we headed out. Imagine our surprise when we arrived at the Woodlawn Fire Station and found lots of folks voting and no lines! :-) It was well staffed, organized and full of positive energy. 

As I cast my ballot Riley wanted to vote too, so he placed his hand on top of mine as I inked in the various circles. Thus we fulfilled our civic duty and were beaming with happiness and excitement as we walked out. I've always loved the feeling of voting and look forward to each election, but this one is the most exciting election I've participated in thus far. 

As we were walking out a woman saw my smiling face, beamed right back at me and said "It's a beautiful day!". Yes it is. :-)
